Meeting Fred Thompson in Columbus, Ohio.I believe that voting is more than a right, that it is a privilege with associated responsibility. Voting without first becoming well informed about the candidates and issues is irresponsible and counterproductive.
As I began to examine all of the declared and undeclared candidates early this year, I discovered the beginnings of the grassroots Draft Fred Thompson movement. I was excited to hear a possible candidate that unapologetically voiced a strong conservative message, and I began to thoroughly explore his record and views. I soon became an active contributor on the DraftFredThompson blog under the user ID of tmc32, and in early April I started the Ohio4Fred website in order to raise support and organization in Ohio. In July 2007, I accepted an offer to become the Ohio coordinator for FredHeads USA and manage the Ohio FredHeads.
I felt that Fred Thompson was the right man for America, and I continue to believe that he was the only true, consistent conservative in the race. I was proud to be selected as an alternate delegate for Fred Thompson, was extremely disappointed that his candidacy fell short, and saddened by the lost opportunity for the country. This was my first active involvement in a national campaign, and I learned that any grassroots movement starts with a small group of people with an idea and the determination to follow through to attain their goals. This ReaganCoalition is the beginning of another of those grassroots efforts that can change history. We
can make a difference.
Now I am proud to join other conservative members in an effort to win back ground that has been surrendered to the liberal wing of the Democrat party and to the RINO members of the Republican party. It is time to stand on principle, uncompromised core values, and the intentions of our founding fathers.
It is time to make a difference!
